The Project

The Conceptualizing Oppression-Related Emotions (CORE) project stands as an interdisciplinary exploration, seeking to redefine the understanding of emotions related to oppression. By integrating feminist philosophy with diverse scientific disciplines, CORE strives to shed light on the complexities of Oppression-Related Emotions, their impact on health, and their potential as instruments for societal change.

Following Feminist Standpoint theory, CORE starts its reflection from the lives of women and other marginalized groups to orient the research, and particularly from the acknowledgment of the conditions of physical and mental suffering of women and girls, as evidenced by feminist literature and by scientific research on painful conditions that predominantly affect women and girls.

KEY ASPECTS

Exploring the Epistemic Role of Oppression Related-Emotions (ORE): CORE delves into the potential positive epistemic role of Oppression Related-Emotions, challenging the traditional dichotomy of emotion versus rationality and proposing Oppression Related-Emotions as epistemic resources in understanding oppression.

Feminist, Naturalized, and Intersectional Methodology: The project adopts a feminist, naturalized, and interdisciplinary approach to study ORE. It recognizes the interdependence of nature and culture, utilizing an intersectional lens to consider various axes of oppression.

Investigating Correlations with Painful Manifestations: CORE explores the hypothesis that ORE may be linked to painful manifestations, particularly those affecting women. This investigation broadens our understanding of the experiences and health of oppressed groups.
